Year End Inquiry Project

We are beginning work on our year-end Inquiry Project.  In this project, students choose a topic of interest, and look at how it connects to Canada’s history and issues related to human rights and/or sustainability.  There are many possible topics – and we will do some class brainstorming to help students come up with ideas.

Students may work alone or with one partner. In the case of partners, each student will be required to individually complete key assessment pieces.

Through this project, students will pursue knowledge on their own and demonstrate their new understandings through multiple formats and presentation modes.

Throughout the process, students will learn to:

£ Develop focused research questions
£ Locate, evaluate and use both primary and secondary resources
£ Organize information and data
£ Consider the needs of the audience
£ Use the writing / creating process: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing and publishing
£ Create a bibliography
£ Create a graphic representation of research
£ Develop an oral presentation
£ Plan for use of visuals in presentation
